How to Clear Storage Space on Your HTC Desire Eye
Is your HTC Desire Eye running out of storage space? Running low on storage can slow down your phone and make it difficult to install new apps or take more photos. But don't worry, with these simple steps, you can easily clear unnecessary files and free up valuable space on your device.
Step 1: Identify What's Taking Up Space
Before you start deleting files, it's essential to know what's consuming the most storage space on your HTC Desire Eye. To do this:
1. Go to the Settings app from the app drawer or by swiping down and tapping the gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
2. Scroll down and tap "Storage & USB" (or a similar option depending on your software version).
3. You will see a breakdown of different categories like Apps, Images, Videos, Audio, Downloads, etc., showing how much space each is using.
Step 2: Uninstall Unused Apps
Now that you know which apps are occupying most of the storage space:
1. Return to the home screen.
2. Locate and tap on "Play Store" from your app drawer or home screen.
3. In Play Store's search bar at the top of the screen, type in the name of an app that you want to delete.
4. Tap on its name in search results.
5. On its app page, look for an "Uninstall" button below its name and icon.
6. Tap "Uninstall," then confirm by selecting "OK."
Repeat this process for other apps that consume significant storage but are no longer needed.
Step 3: Clear App Cache
Apps store temporary data known as cache files which accumulate over time:
1. Open Settings again.
2. Scroll down and select "Apps & Notifications."
3a) If there is a list view: Tap on an individual app from which you want to clear cache.
3b) If there are tabs: Tap on the "App Info" or "App List" option, then select the desired app from the list.
4. Once inside an app's settings page, tap on "Storage & Cache."
5. Look for a button labeled "Clear Cache" and tap it.
Repeat this process for other apps that have a significant cache size.
Step 4: Delete Unnecessary Files
Aside from apps, your HTC Desire Eye stores various files like images, videos, audio recordings, and downloads. To delete unwanted files:
1. Open the file manager app by locating and tapping on its icon in the app drawer or home screen.
2. Navigate to different folders (e.g., Pictures, Videos) to find files you no longer need.
3a) For single file deletion: Long-press on a file until it is selected and additional options appear at the top of the screen.
Then tap on a trash bin or delete icon/button.
3b) For multiple file deletion: Long-press one file to select it; continue selecting additional files by tapping them once until all desired items are chosen.
Then look for an option such as "Delete," trash bin icon/button or three-dot menu where delete option may be present.
Repeat this process in other folders containing unnecessary files until you've cleared enough space.
Step 5: Consider Cloud Storage
If you have important photos or documents that you don't want to permanently delete but still need more space:
1. Install a cloud storage service like Google Drive or Dropbox from Play Store if not already installed.
2. Open the cloud storage app after installation.
3a) Sign in with your existing account details OR set up a new account if required.
3b) Follow their instructions for uploading and storing files securely in their respective platforms' cloud storage.
Remember that while these services offer free plans with limited space, you may need to subscribe to a paid plan for more substantial storage needs.
By following these steps, you should now have a good amount of cleared storage space on your HTC Desire Eye. Enjoy the improved performance and make sure to regularly repeat these steps to maintain optimal storage availability on your device.
