How to Use SoundCloud's Advanced Features on Your iOS Device
SoundCloud is a popular platform for discovering and sharing music. While it offers basic features like listening to and uploading tracks, there are several advanced features that can enhance your experience. In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to use SoundCloud's advanced features on your iOS device.
Step 1: Install the SoundCloud App
If you don't have it already, download and install the official SoundCloud app from the App Store. Open the app once it is installed.
Step 2: Log in or Create an Account
You can either log in with your existing SoundCloud account credentials or create a new account within the app if you haven't done so already. Follow the instructions on-screen to complete this step.
Step 3: Explore Trending Tracks and Playlists
Upon logging in, you'll see a home feed with trending tracks and playlists. You can scroll through them to discover new music or tap on any track or playlist to start playing it immediately.
Step 4: Create and Edit Playlists
To create your own playlists, tap on "Library" at the bottom of the screen, then select "Playlists." Tap on "Create Playlist" and give it a name. To add tracks to a playlist, simply navigate to any track you want to include, tap on its three-dot menu icon (•••), select "Add/Remove from Playlist," then choose which playlist(s) you want that track added to.
To edit an existing playlist's name or description, go back into "Library" > "Playlists," find the desired playlist, swipe left on its title bar until options appear - then click "Edit."
Step 5: Like Tracks for Easy Access
While browsing tracks throughout SoundCloud, if you find something interesting that you would like quick access to later without creating a playlist specifically for it - simply tap on the heart icon (♡) below the track's cover art. This will add it to your "Liked" tracks collection, accessible under "Library" > "Liked Tracks."
Step 6: Follow Artists and Users
If you want to stay updated with a particular artist or user, you can follow them. When you find an artist or user whose content you enjoy, tap on their name to visit their profile page. Once there, click on the "Follow" button next to their name.
Step 7: Repost and Share Tracks
SoundCloud allows users to repost tracks they like onto their own profiles. To repost a track, find a track you want to share with others and tap on its three-dot menu icon (•••). Then select "Repost." Additionally, if you wish to share tracks directly with friends or social media platforms like Twitter or Facebook - select the option for sharing from that same menu.
Step 8: Commenting and Messaging
One of SoundCloud's interactive features is commenting on tracks or sending direct messages to artists and users. To leave a comment on a specific track, scroll down below its waveform display and enter your comment in the text field provided.
To send direct messages from within SoundCloud app - navigate into an artist/user profile page by tapping their name. You'll see an envelope icon in the top-right corner which indicates messaging availability.
Step 9: Enable Offline Listening (Subscription Required)
If you have SoundCloud Go+, which is a subscription-based feature offered by SoundCloud - it allows offline listening for selected songs/albums/playlists. To enable this feature for specific content, simply tap on the download button (arrow pointing downwards) while browsing through any supported audio resource in-app.
There you have it! By following these steps, you can now take full advantage of SoundCloud's advanced features using your iOS device. Enjoy exploring new music and engaging with the SoundCloud community!
