Managing Your Inbox in Windows-10 Email: Organize, Filter, and Prioritize Messages
Email is an essential communication tool for both personal and professional use. With the Windows-10 Email app, you can manage your inbox efficiently by organizing, filtering, and prioritizing messages. This guide will walk you through the steps to effectively manage your inbox.
Step 1: Accessing the Windows-10 Email App
- Click on the "Start" button on your desktop.
- Locate and select the "Mail" icon to launch the Windows-10 Email app.
Step 2: Configuring email accounts
- If you haven't already set up your email account(s), click on "Get Started" or select "Add Account."
- Follow the prompts to enter your email address and password.
- Once configured, all your emails will be visible in one place.
Step 3: Organizing emails with folders
- On the left side of the app window, you'll see a list of folders like Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items, etc.
- Right-click anywhere within this section or click on "...More" at the bottom to create a new folder.
- Give it a name that reflects its purpose (e.g., Personal, Work).
- To move an email into a folder:

- To create a rule:
- Click on the gear icon at the bottom left corner to access Settings.
- Choose "Rules" and then click on "Add New Rule."
- Define the criteria and actions for your rule (e.g., move to a specific folder, mark as read).
c) Search:
- Use the search bar at the top of the app window to find specific emails based on keywords, senders, dates, or attachments.
Step 5: Prioritizing emails with flags
- Flags are useful for marking important messages that require attention.
- To flag an email:
- Select an email by clicking on its subject line or checkbox next to it.
- Right-click or click on three dots (...) at the top toolbar.
- Choose "Flag" from the options provided.
Step 6: Marking emails as read/unread
- By default, Windows-10 Email automatically marks emails as read once you've opened them.
- To mark an email as unread:
- Select an email by clicking on its subject line or checkbox next to it.
- Right-click or click on three dots (...) at the top toolbar.
- Choose "Mark As Unread."
Step 7: Deleting unwanted emails
- To delete one or multiple emails:
- Select one or more emails by clicking their checkboxes next to them. Alternatively, use Ctrl+Click/Shift+Click for multiple selections.
