Navigating Windows-10 User Accounts Like a Pro: Advanced Techniques Unveiled

Windows-10 offers a variety of user account options and advanced techniques to enhance your experience. Whether you are an individual user or managing accounts on a shared device, these tips will help you navigate Windows-10 user accounts like a pro.

Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Creating and Managing User Accounts:
- To create a new user account, click on the Start menu, then select "Settings" and choose "Accounts".
- Under the "Family & other users" section, click on "Add someone else to this PC".
- Follow the prompts to add a Microsoft account or create a local account.
- To manage existing accounts, navigate back to the "Family & other users" section in Settings.
- Click on an account name to modify its settings, such as changing passwords or switching between local and Microsoft accounts.

2. Switching Between User Accounts:
- To switch between user accounts quickly without logging out of your current session, press the Windows key + L simultaneously.
- This shortcut locks your current session and presents you with all available users; simply select the desired one.

3. Fast User Switching:
- Windows-10 allows multiple users to be logged in simultaneously using Fast User Switching.
- To enable this feature, open Control Panel by typing “Control Panel” into the search bar next to Start menu button.
Then click on "User Accounts", followed by "Change Account Type".
- Check if “Administrator” is selected for each user who needs Fast User Switching enabled. If not,
select their name and choose “Change Account Type” > Administrator > OK.

4. Utilizing Local Group Policy Editor:
The Local Group Policy Editor is only available in certain versions of Windows-10 (Pro/Enterprise/Education). Proceed with caution when modifying system settings.

- Open the Local Group Policy Editor by searching for "gpedit.msc" in the search bar next to the Start menu button.
- Navigate to "Computer Configuration" > "Windows Settings" > "Security Settings" > "Local Policies" >
"Security Options".
- Here, you can adjust advanced options like password policies, account lockout duration, and more.

5. Managing User Account Control (UAC) Settings:
User Account Control helps protect your computer by notifying you before changes are made that require administrator-level permission. You can customize its behavior according to your preference.

- To access UAC settings, go to the Control Panel and search for “User Account Control” in the top-right search bar.
- Click on “Change User Account Control settings”.
- Move the slider up or down to set your desired level of security and click OK.

6. Using Windows Hello:
Windows Hello provides a convenient way to log in using biometric data or a PIN instead of a traditional password.

- To set up Windows Hello, open Settings and navigate to "Accounts", then select “Sign-in options” from the left panel.
- Choose an option such as fingerprint, facial recognition, or PIN from within this section.
Follow prompts specific for each method chosen.

7. Switching Between Microsoft Accounts and Local Accounts:
Windows-10 allows users to switch between Microsoft accounts (linked with an email address) and local accounts (not linked with any online services).

To switch between account types:

- Navigate to Start menu > Settings > Accounts > Your info
- Select “Sign in with a local account instead”
Follow prompts provided

8. Restricting App Usage on Shared Devices:

If you share your device with others or want better control over app usage:

- Go to Start menu > Settings > Accounts > Family & other users.
- Under the "Family & other users" section, click on “Add a family member” or “Add someone else to this PC”.
Follow the prompts to set up a new user account for each person.
- Once accounts are created, you can set App and Game limits for individual accounts,
by clicking on an account name and selecting "App & game limits".

By following these steps and utilizing advanced techniques like Fast User Switching, Local Group Policy Editor, Windows Hello, and managing user account types effectively, you will become proficient in navigating Windows-10 user accounts. Enjoy a personalized experience with enhanced security!
